What Calvin and Luther didn't know
August 26, 2015
And, my seminary professors didn't know either!
Through the Reformation in the 16th Century, God began to restore some
basic doctrines from the 1st Century that had been lost. The Reformers
understood that they were not inventing something new. Rather, they
were rediscovering the original teachings of the New Testament. As
Martin Luther wrote, "Only primitive Christianity is the true Church."
However, as important as the Reformation was in restoring some 1st Century doctrines, it was largely ineffective at restoring 1st Century structures and practices that had been lost.
This was because the Reformers failed to ask one key question. In fact, it wasn't until 1980 that some NT scholars began to ask this one question. And, the answer to that question changes everything about church.
Click on the picture below to hear this amazing story. (BTW, Most seminary professors still don't know about this!)
