My team and I are almost finished with my new mentoring & connecting project. It's called The Deeper Christian Life Network, an online community dedicated to delving into the deeper things of God with others of like mind and heart.
In response to countless requests for it, the network provides (1) deeper-life training and virtual mentoring from me, and (2) connection with others who desire the same.
Let me give you The Story behind the network. There are two parts to it.
Part 1: HOW THE NETWORK SERVES MY CORE READERS. In my recent blog surveys, many of my readers said they lack mentoring, they lack deep teaching (i.e., the meat of God's Word), they lack connection with other believers who are interested in the deeper things of Christ, they lack inspiration, passion, friendships and encouragement.
The Deeper Christian Life Network is designed to meet all these needs.
Part 2: HOW THE NETWORK FULFILLS MY CORE CALLING. I've often blogged about this, but Jesus is our example when it comes to discipleship, training, and mentoring.
He had a general ministry to the masses, and He had a specific ministry to a small number of people.
And He invested most of His time, energy, and best teaching on that small band of people.
To date, I've written over 20 books, most of which are on the deeper Christian life. The combined readership of those books is very large. But those books represent my ministry to the masses because most of the people who read them desire nothing more from me.
The Deeper Christian Life Network is for those who want to go beyond my books and my blog and desire my best work on the deeper Christian life--online and through an annual live conference.
In addition, at this point in my life, I'm reducing the amount of projects on my plate to invest most of my time, attention, and energy to the new network.
Buechner said, "The place God calls you is the place where your deep gladness and the world's deep hunger meet." That's what the network is for me -- it combines my greatest passion with my readers' greatest need.
The network will provide:
- Virtual Mentoring from Me
- Collective Inspiration
- Cooperative Learning
- Mutual Edification
IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION: Unfortunately, I have to add this clarification for those who are stuck in 2008 and have only read my two books on ecclesiology, having never moved on to read my more recent work on the deeper Christian life.
The Deeper Christian Life Network is not a "church finder" resource. So no churches will be promoted on the site. Also, the network doesn't advocate any particular form of church, so we will have pastors, seminary professors, and Christians in all denominations and church forms in the network.
It's called THE DEEPER CHRISTIAN LIFE NETWORK because the focus is on the deeper life in Christ, for those craving spiritual meat. The focus is not church forms or church practices.
