LK10: Prayer Movement on the Western Slope of Colorado

Dear LK10 Family,

There must be a prayer movement before there can be a church planting movement.

David Garrison has studied an amazing phenomenon taking place around the world called "church planting movements" (CPMs). In his book, Church Planting Movements:  How God Is Redeeming a Lost World, he lists 10 characteristics that are present in every CPM.  Number one on his list is extraordinary prayer.

Prayer permeates Church Planting Movements.  Whether it's Koreans rising at four in the morning for a two-hour prayer time, or Spanish Gypsies "going to the mountain, " as they call their all night prayer vigils, Church Planting Movements are steeped in prayer.  p. 172, 173.

(By the way, here's another characteristic of CPMs...  Today's Church Planting Movements grow large by focusing on small groups meeting in homes... When the church left the home it left something vital behind:  intimate contact with every facet of daily life.  Today's CPMs are reintroducing this lost dimension by bringing the church back home.  p. 213, 214.)

In the video below, Desi Starr (New Castle, CO) tells about a prayer movement that is underway on the Western Slope of Colorado.  As you watch, I would encourage you to take out a piece of paper and pen to capture key LK10 principles as Desi tells the story.  Here are a few...

1.  Prayer begins with listening.  "Lord, what is your heart for our region?  Show us how you want us to pray."
2.  Two by two (CO2).  Jesus sent his church planters (apostles) our two by two.  Lk. 10:1.  Desi's partner is Lee Price.
3.  Partner with traditional churches wherever possible.  Listen for how Desi and Lee are doing that.
