John Fenn, How Jesus Heals Emotions #4

Hi all,
We are now leaving the woman at the well example having seen the methods Jesus uses to bring emotional healing to people. These same principles will be seen throughout the gospels:

Acknowledge where you are without judgment or opinion - own it, be in the present. By revelation from God reset your understanding of your history, and entrust Him with the unanswerable questions until you get to heaven. Tell others about the revelation you received and how it has changed you. Make decisions to extricate yourself from the mess you are in. You will feel alone, but God cannot make that decision for you. What did the woman at the well do about man #6? Jesus wasn't there to make the decision for her - she had to own her life and make wise decisions.

The man with a legion of demons
A Roman Legion in Jesus' time consisted of 2,000 soldiers, which tells us the man in Mark 5:1-20 and Luke 8: 26-39 had been into heavy sin. Mark 5:2 says he had an 'unclean spirit'. While that could be used in a general sense of a person having a demon, in context it means a specific type of spirit. In the same way the Bible uses the word 'brethren' which is a reference to men and women and even children who believe, in a smaller context it may mean just a group of men.

In context 'unclean spirit' refers to a sexually unclean spirit, which explains the man's nakedness, cutting himself, perhaps the attempts at binding him with chains was initially related to his particular kind of sexual perversion. We don't know other than the original sin of the man was sexual, and it led to having 2,000 demons in him.

This candid assessment is important to this study of how Jesus heals emotionally, for this man certainly had all sorts of emotional hurt and baggage.

Acknowledge where you are right now
But the man still retained some control, for Mark 5:6 says 'When he saw Jesus far off, he ran and worshipped Him'. Verse 15 says after Legion and his subordinates were cast out the man was found: "Clothed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, and in his right mind".

The worship of Jesus was the acknowledgement by this man that he had a demonic problem, even as the head demon started talking to Jesus - it was all there for Jesus to see: He was naked, was bleeding from self-inflicted cuts from rocks, had scars from his cuttings, remnants of chains may have been dragged along - this was the moment the woman at the well had, the moment the person acknowledges where they are before God and everyone. Literally.

Revelation that resets your history
Once again we see no opinion expressed by Jesus about this man and his demonic and sin problem or history. Jesus confronts his history differently than He did with the woman at the well - here He casts the demons out - with the woman at the well He just revealed by words of knowledge that He knew all she ever did. Both cases involved the manifestation of the power of God; words of knowledge in once case, casting demons out in another.

I want you to notice the ease the man felt before Jesus. Clothed, sitting at the feet of Jesus (Luke 8:35), and in his right mind. The revelation that Jesus is God and He made no judgement call on the sins which caused the man to become home to 2,000 demons, caused the man to sit with ease at the feet of Jesus. What do you think he was doing sitting at the feet of Jesus? He was learning. He was hearing teaching that changed his mind about his life, his history, and reset his ideas about his life.

Tell someone about the revelation and change of heart and mind you've received
In Mark 5:18-20 and Luke 8:38-39 it says as Jesus and the disciples were getting into their boat to return across the lake, he begged Jesus to allow him to come with Him.

The area of the Gadarenes is known as the Decapollis, the area of 10 Greek cities (deca- ten; polis - city) in what is modern Jordan. It wasn't a Jewish area and at that time having a Greek disciple ministering to those in Israel about their Messiah just wasn't an option. So Jesus told him 'No'.

Think about the emotions this caused the man: "Jesus, I want to follow you!" "No". Once again, just as with the woman at the well, Jesus leaves the man with decisions to make. They are decisions he alone would have to make, Jesus wasn't going to make them for him.

"Return to your own home and to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He had compassion on you. And he left and went throughout the Decapolis telling everyone what Jesus had done for him, and all men marveled." Mark 5:19-20

Think through this man's history and emotions for the Lord does the same today with us
Jesus told the man to first go home, and then to his friends. Peter said in I Peter 4:10: "As everyone has received the grace, so give that grace to others, for you are now stewards of the (various forms) of the grace of God."

The man had decisions to make that involved him returning home to family and friends and rebuilding his life. The woman at the well didn't move out of her community because she had a tough decision to make with man #6 - would they get married or break up? The man delivered of Legion wasn't allowed by the Lord to pick up and move where no one knew him. Like the woman at the well the Lord made him own up to his past and learn from it, and rebuild his life with right decisions where he lived.

In both cases thus far we've seen the Lord bring emotional healing to people using the same methods - and He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He hasn't changed. SO many Christians lie when they say 'God is leading me'. That isn't God, it is their weak spine talking, their distaste for making hard decisions all on their own. They hide behind spiritual platitudes and emotional reasoning that are half-truths that lead to an appearance of progress but which will be revealed to be nothing more than window dressing to their lives within a few months.

Romans 12:2 flat out states how to change your life - how to undergo in the Greek a metamorphosis - 'renew the mind' while making your body a living sacrifice to God. Period. You have to change your thoughts in order to change your mind. That means you have to change your emotions. God and you acknowledge where you are, refrain from making judgements, take a step of faith letting some things be unanswered until you get to heaven, reset your understanding of your own history by learning His perspective on it, share what God is doing, and then rebuild your emotions and life.

In part 1 of this series I brought out Isaiah 40:2-4 which said the Lord will not fail nor be discouraged until He has set justice in (your) earth. This is how He does that setting of justice - He sends us right back to where we are, which we've already acknowledged, but with new life - and then leaves us to our decisions as He watches. IF we make wise decisions in Him, He is able to set justice in our life - balance, righteousness, godliness - justice. If we make wrong decisions, He will be there again to repeat the attempt at a healing process in our emotions...some people go around and around that mountain and never learn. Others like these 2 examples above, learned.

Another example next week...are you starting to see a pattern in your own life?

    Until then, blessings,
        John Fenn

New CD/MP3 Series

**SPECIAL BUNDLE SALE**
July 14th to August 14th

"According to Your Faith" & "How Your Authority Works"- 4 CDs $15 - These series break the stereotypical teaching on faith, explaining in practical day-to-day terms how to know when to act and when to stand and trust. There are times we can tell heaven is watching, waiting for what we decide - but how do we know which way to decide, what to believe? These 2 series will help you figure out where you are in your situation and give you wisdom on how to proceed. Very practical, behind the scenes view, series.

"I AM", and "Getting to Know our Heavenly Father"- 6 CDs $20 - Jesus made several "I AM: statements claiming He was the I AM who spoke to Moses out of the burning bush, and the one seen in several Old Testament appearances. This is a must for any seeking to understand the pre-existence of Christ Jesus, His Old Testament appearances, and His relationship with the Father, including how He came to be. "Getting to know your heavenly Father" is a great follow up series focusing on not just believing in, but actually knowing and conversing with the Father on a regular basis.
"Pursuing" was John's first book and it details many visitations with the Lord and angels, giving a 'behind the scenes' view of heaven's perspective, which will help every believer know His ways. 'Knowing" picks up where 'Pursuing' left off, which was just as John was taken to heaven. 'Knowing' is all about heaven and the Father's throne and things related to his experience there.

Just a word about our On-line Video Bible School - these classes, so far; Old Testament I & II, Righteousness and Our Authority in Christ - are a go-at-your-own-pace, no test, investment in your own faith and understanding of the Word and Lord. Once registered, your password is good for a whole year so you can take your time, but as I'm hearing from students, once they start they have a hard time stopping! Each class is about 45-55 minutes long, so they are in easy to receive segments...consider investing in a deeper study of the things of God!

I AM

I AM
“When He said to them, ‘I am He,’
they drew back and fell to the ground.”
JOHN 18:6

When they came to arrest the Lord Jesus in the garden, He asked, “Who are you looking for?” And they answered, “Jesus of Nazareth.” He simply said, “I AM.” When they heard this they fell over backwards to the ground. No one can stand before I AM and retain any of their strength. To the ground we will all go, for that ground is holy. Every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

This revealing of Christ is sufficient to bring saint and sinner alike into absolute surrender and submission. Friends and foes alike find themselves at His feet, quite unable to stand before Him. He does not have to raise His voice or call down fire from Heaven or do anything other than simply reveal Himself for Who He is. Every doubting Thomas eventually cries out, “My Lord and My God!” when they finally behold Him.

The Crisis of a Christless Christianity

The Crisis of a Christless Christianity
by Chip Brogden
I have said many times that we do not need more of the Lord, since we are already complete in Christ – we just need less of everything else.

There are many things that spoil, hinder, distract, and lead us away from the simplicity of an abiding relationship with Jesus. Many of them are spiritual and religious. The spirit of Antichrist is not necessarily seen in something that is obviously satanic or demonic. Instead, the spirit of Antichrist is revealed in anything that seeks to spoil us by taking our eyes off of Christ – it is anti-Christ, against Christ, antithetical to the great Purpose of God.

How easy it is for us to become distracted into something less than Christ! Are you centered on Christ? Is Jesus your obsession? Is He your focus? Or have you set your sights on something beneath Him? This speaks right to the heart of the crisis we find ourselves in today...

His Life Cannot Fail

His Life Cannot Fail
“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live,
but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh
I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
GALATIANS 2:20

The Law of Gravity brings objects to the ground. It does not matter to Gravity how large or small the object is. It works the same with acorns as it does with airplanes.

Likewise, I know today that it does not matter if I am called upon to wash dishes, mow the lawn, write an article, preach a message, cast out a demon, love my neighbor, forgive my enemy, or lay down my life. It makes no difference to the Life. It is not I, but Christ, Who does these things. The principle is the same, and the Life cannot fail. If I give up my life, if I give up my self-effort, then He begins to do what I cannot do. This is Christianity.

John White's church planting horror stories - Part 2

July 18, 2017

This week we have the second installment of what I'm calling our "Conversations with the Director" series. In this conversation he talks about some of the first house churches he planted. There's good news and bad news, and I'll start with the good: he planted seven house churches in a year. The bad news? Six of them died.

There's a few things that I want to point out from this conversation.

First, this is another great example of the way that experimentation is deeply engrained in the LK10 DNA. And more specifically, the process of learning through failure. It took two years of trying the same thing, and six out of seven house churches dying, for John to try something different here. This also reminds me of the patient faithfulness that we talked about last week. Maybe experimentation and patient faithfulness need to go hand in hand. We need experimentation so that we can grow and adapt, but patient faithfulness so that we can follow through with our experimentation long enough to actually see what works.

Second, I'm always struck by the easy way that John talks about his failures. We don't spend a lot of time talking about confession around here. I imagine some folks get the heebie-jeebies from that word, whether from bad past experiences in churches that practice hierarchical confession or because of a distrust of those churches. But if we're truly being honest with ourselves and each other in our times of checking in together, that's going to lead to some pretty serious confession at times. We all screw up. But if we want to be able to talk about our screw ups as easily as John does, I have a hunch that it starts with radical honesty in our closest relationships.

Third, this is one more great example of why our leader groups (and the Leader 101 curriculum) are so important. Here in the LK10 Community, we're a bunch of people who believe that church has to be more than just a Sunday morning thing. We believe it has to be a whole life thing. But when church is a whole life thing, even those of us leading house churches can't hide the parts of our lives that we'd rather keep secret. Those issues that we've never quite dealt with have a habit of showing up when we really let people into our lives and our hearts. And then we have a choice. We either deal with our stuff and become more whole, more useful, or we stuff it back down and pretend like it's not there.

If you're recognizing that you don't have it all together, that you need help growing up, that you want to do some hard work to grow into the spiritual parent that you know God wants you to become, then I sincerely hope you'll give one of our leader groups a shot. You're obviously welcome to engage with us as deeply as you want, and so if that means you mostly just want to receive these updates, that's okay. But if you aren't diving in and engaging with one of these groups at a deep level, you're missing out. As always, let us know if you decide you want to try something new, to dive into this great experiment with us.

CWOWI E-Newsletter, 07/19/2017, Update, Prophetic, News

Hi all,
I just returned (Tuesday night) from our house church gathering in Granby, Quebec which was wonderful in every way, but will be taking the last couple of weeks of July off through August 7 to rest and attempt to work on the 'honey-do' list that has piled up. I'll still do my Weekly Thoughts and Facebook live as I'll be around the house for the most part, but will limit my email and Skype and Messenger communications.

In the 4 months between March 14 through July 18 I've been away the equivalent of 2 months, so you can imagine the need to rest and attend to home things.

I meet with my cardiologist on the 31st to discuss options as now that I've lost most of the weight he wanted me to lose with the blood pressure also falling into the more normal category, we can discuss the ablation of the nerve that is causing the A-fibrillation (AFib). Ablatian is where they thread an electrode through an artery and zap the nerve which should allow the rest of the electrical impulses to take over and hopefully have a normal heart beat. He also wants to discuss the 'reset' option, which is where they stop (my) heart and then a few seconds later use the paddles to start it again. I'm a bit hesitant with that option - I've been to heaven so that isn't the concern, it is for Chris and Barb's sake, so wisdom needed as we discuss those 2 options. Or do I do nothing and just live with it? Wisdom.

I'm not tired, fatigued, lack energy or anything like that with the AFib, but it has caused other issues or contributed to other issues which can be dealt with to a degree with medicine. But maybe the ablatian will make it so that no medicine is needed - that is where I ask you to pray for wisdom. I've seen the Lord now 3 times this year, 2 in meetings and once He came in the middle of the night when I was having some heart related symptoms and He encouraged me and told me 'you will live and not die', and then told me of things to happen between now and next September (2018)...so I am encouraged, but I don't want to miss it. Why He didn't just heal me in that visitation I don't know, but it is what it is so I ask for prayer.

New England regional conference, Manchester, New Hampshire, October 6-8
This will be held as in the past, at Tom and Sylvia's home in Manchester, NH and it's not too early to be setting aside (Columbus Day weekend) the dates...for info cwowi@aol.com or syto99@gmail.com.

Use of Skype
We've always followed Paul's pattern in Acts and as seen in his letters that make up our New Testament, and part of that was the way they traveled back and forth visiting each other - city to city, nation to nation. Today we do that via car and jet, but also by Skype and Messenger. Here is an update from some ladies who first met at one of our conferences, but then have built on the friendships using regular Skype visits, Sharon writes:

"The Skype Sisters started out with Sharon and Dean from Arkansas, Betsy from Maine and Monique from Scotland. Since then, Ginette from Canada has joined us sporadically. And now Heidi and Heather (California) and Jenny from Finland are with us as often as they can join. We feel a strong sister connection to one another and the relationships grow deeper with each meeting. We all come away from the meetings feeling encouraged, uplifted, and that the Father has met with us."

"We have also started a group Skype text chat that we each can contribute to each day. it has been a huge blessing to each of use and especially when there is a need for emergency prayer. From the very first meeting we have been amazed at the answers and miracles that have occurred in answer to our prayers."

Recent cd and MP3 series
I want to encourage you to get last month's series 'God's Culture of Generosity' which has little if anything to do with giving money - it is about the Kingdom of God and the way the Father is, and therefore what He is trying to work in our own hearts. I've received several testimonies from people who said they were 'blown away' by that teaching, so if you hesitated getting it before, I'd encourage you to get it. Also the series packages offered this month would be a huge blessing to you, and include a couple of e-books.

Remember the vision of the slide?
Before the elections the Father showed me a vision of a child's playground slide. A man in a suit who I understood from what the Father said to be in the US Congress was trying to walk up that slide, holding onto the sides bent over, trying to go up - he would take a couple steps up then slide right back down to where he started. The Father then spoke to me and said that is what the Congress will be like, unable to get anything of real substance accomplished. The fact He set the vision in a child's playground told me they would be playing political games rather than doing the job they were elected to do.

So far that is what is happening. I also remember He said "The collapse will come when conservatives are in charge." I'm not sharing at this point the things the Lord told me a couple weeks ago when He came in the middle of the night and told me of things through September 2018, but I can tell you the last 2 years of the administration will be rough for many. (People always email me and say 'Can you just tell me the details' - The answer is no on this, don't ask please) Right now it is a matter for prayer as it was also coupled with things He said about the body of Christ.

For that part He talked to me about how many are in fact getting serious about their faith, about being in relationship with others, about growing in Him. He talked again of separation between those serious about growth in Him and in relationships with others, and those who wanted to stay where they are spiritually. There are things coming even this fall economically in the US that will shake some, but for others nothing will change as they are in strong relationships with others on the same spiritual page.

When He appeared to me on November 4, 2001 and told me "I want you to start a house church and house church network, and structure it in such a way to facilitate the development of house churches around the world", I asked Him why. His response was "It's against a time to come. It is provision against a time to come. Be a resource for them."

I realized at the time that would be a two-fold task. The first is good basic teaching without religious strings attached, just the ways of the Father and Son and Spirit. That is what my Weekly Thoughts are about, all my cd's, books, Facebook Live each Wednesday - I'm always looking for ways I can share the pure Word I've received by revelation, no man taught me, to bless and strengthen the body of Christ.

The other part is teaching and conferences and meetings about house church - not that the house is the focus - but the relationships of those who meet in homes is the focus. Family based churches that meet in homes, in relationship with others in a network of like-minded people. We now have - that is Church Without Walls international (CWOWI), now with affiliated house churches in about 3 dozen nations, is part of His provision for a time yet future. The larger mystery of the 'provision' is that we are each other's provision. The believers all connected on the same spiritual page, realizing Christ is in us and we are the church, in relationship with each other, looking out for each other. We are each other's provision just as we see in Acts.

When Jesus returns you can see His priorities from what He said of that time in Matthew 25:31-46, which says in part "I was thirst and you gave me drink, I was hungry and you fed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you visited me."

HIs priorities are people - He lives in us, Christ in us, the HOPE...when needs arise we provide hope and support for one another, meeting physical needs and emotional and spiritual.

Some thoughts on house church meetings
What we've found works is the Biblical pattern (Imagine that, just following the Bible) of rotating homes and rotating who leads each meeting. If house churches do not rotate who leads each meeting so that all who attend are used to sharing what is on their heart then they will become at most a hybrid version of the auditorium church merely meeting in the home. (Some 'house churches' not in our network have only maybe 3-4 men who share, 1 each week in 3 or 4 week rotation, and some have the same person share each and every week but call themselves 'house church' just because they meet in a house).

By sharing I mean being in charge of the meeting, not just participating, but opening your home and having to think through what you're going to share with a group of people gathered in your home - at first it sounds scary, but after 1 time you realize all you are doing among friends is sharing what God is doing in your life - it is that simple, that peaceful. From there the discussion and study and revelation just flow among those gathered.

The reason there is such peace is that you are free to share according to Christ in you. If you are an intercessor the Lord may have you lead everyone in prayer. If a teacher you may want to do a word study that you are currently studying in your own time. If you are an exhorter you may share a recent testimony of something the Lord did for you. If you are a worshipper you may want to lead everyone in worship - all that is fine, it is according to your own gifts - you don't have to be someone or something you aren't. Just be yourself.

We've had times when the host and leader for the day says "I don't have anything; it has been a busy week, so maybe we should just take prayer requests and go around laying hands on each other for those requests" - and those are some of the most powerful! We've often spent 90 minutes laying hands on each other, everyone involved sometimes having words from the Lord, and all come away touched and having received. Relax, Christ is in you, just share what He is doing in your life. Rotate homes, rotate who leads. Be the provision for others in this way. You are unique and Christ lives in you, so what you share will be unique in Him as well.

Closing thoughts - this has been a rough time financially as I've had lots of trips that don't pay for themselves, but each is an investment in the relationships, which are eternal. 200 years from now in heaven I'm not going to regret having invested thousands of dollars in these trips because the people we've invested in are in heaven, are thankful for those times together - atmosphere and earth may pass and change, but people are eternal, so each expense is really an investment reaping spiritual dividends. But if you can help this month getting us caught up it would be a huge help and blessing to us. Also keep me in prayer for wisdom. Chris has done well enough on these trips, I pick him up Friday for a couple days at home - he understood I had to go tell people about Jesus, so I know he shares in this ministry.

    Blessings and thanks!
