Prostitution, sex tourism, child prostitutes

Hi the Body of Christ,
With your help and prayers we anticipate this to be a banner year to bring the Gospel to the poor. Thank you so much for your partnership!

Prostitution, Sex Tourism, Child Prostitutes

Raised in a one-room hut next door to her mom’s home brewery, she was forced to be used for sex in exchange for a few shillings. Seeing her, there was only a shell of a child, eyes reflecting a soul questioning her existence and longing for something more.
Uneducated, without any job skills, and with no other way to support themselves many women turn to prostitution and even force their children into this lifestyle to help provide food and shelter for themselves and their siblings.
Not all prostitutes are found on street corners. Many young boys and girls leave home for lack of food or because of abuse. Living on city streets often they are sought out to be “hired” as house-girls and/or boys. Their duties not only include cleaning, washing clothes and cooking, but are also used as sex objects at night. This for many is called survival.
You can see the importance of what you help us do:
  • When you educate one child, he/she is no longer driven to such desperate measures.
  • When you provide one woman with job skills, she can escape the nightmare.
  • When you offer hope in Jesus Christ, shame is lifted and value, worth and joy is given.

“Your shame is lifted…you are no longer alone”

Lillian, the team leader’s wife in Burundi, brought new life to this prostitute:
prostituteWhen we walked into her home I asked her if it was ok to talk about Jesus Christ. When she said yes, my relative shared with her about her own life as a prostitute. She told her how God showed her how much He loved her and how her life has changed. We shared our lives and the love of God with her.
The woman began to cry as we talked. She felt unworthy and unloved. She then told us about her secret life of so much embarrassment as a prostitute. She asked me, ‘What can I do to live the life you are now living?’ So, we shared more about Jesus and we prayed with her. She cried when we left because she didn’t know if she would see us again. We told her, ‘Next week we will come and meet with you and whoever you invite to look at the Scriptures together. We are now friends. You are not alone.’
With your help & prayers, we anticipate this to be a banner year for God’s power to bring the Gospel to the poor! Thank you for your partnership!
Blessings & Love,
Roger & Brooks
