Why can’t we just gratefully accept what God has already built and stop trying to add to it? Why do we have to keep going backwards to a time when people had to build altars and tabernacles and temples because they didn’t have the Spirit of the Living God living inside of them? YOU ARE THE CHURCH THAT JESUS IS BUILDING! YOU ARE THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT! And when you embrace the Cross, the Altar is already built. All you have to do now is offer up YOURSELF as a living sacrifice on that altar (Rom. 12:1). “I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish [any refuse, as the excrement of animals, offscourings, garbage, dregs, of things worthless and detestable, and all religious B.S., manure, and crap] that I may gain CHRIST” (Philippians 3:8).
