The Meaning of the Cross
“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes
in Me, though he may die, he shall live.”
JOHN 11:25
The Cross does not represent Death – it represents Life out of Death.
Jesus does not refer to Himself as the Crucifixion and the Death, but He
calls Himself the Resurrection and the Life. Even so, this Resurrection
and Life implies that there has been a very real, thorough death. You
cannot resurrect someone who has not died.
God wills that all of us stand together with Christ on resurrection
ground where death has no power over us. That is certainly a powerful
ground to stand upon, but there is no direct route to get there. The
path to resurrection takes us through the Cross, for there can be no
Resurrection and Life apart from crucifixion and death.
