The Irresistible Seed
“The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground,
and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout
and grow, he himself does not know how. For the earth yields crops by
itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the
head. But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle,
because the harvest has come.”
MARK 4:26-29
Once the seed is in the ground it just naturally comes forth the way God
intended – but not immediately. First the blade, then the head, then
the full grain in the head. Like everything else in God’s creation, it
is progressive.
Likewise, we “do not know how” this Irresistible Kingdom continues to
grow and develop, yet it persists in doing so. It really is
irresistible. Eventually the harvest will come and we will see the end
result. Only then will the magnitude of God’s infinite wisdom and the
greatness of His Purpose be revealed in all its fullness.
