It is only as we expand our leadership base that we can reach more people for Christ.
Recruiting
Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvestis plentiful but the workers are few.” ~ Matthew 9:35-37READING: Matthew 9:27-37
“I need to recruit more leaders for my ministry!”
If you are a church planting leader this is a thought you have had and a need you have experienced. It is so helpful to see how Jesus handled this problem when He encountered it in His earthly ministry.
When we see the "crowds" of people who need all that Christ has to offer, we, too, feel compassion for them. They are harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Like Jesus, we know that we must find more leaders to join us in our mission. It is only as we expand our leadership base that we can reach more people for Christ. But how do we find these leaders? What is the first step to take?
Jesus gave us a command that empowers us to recruit more workers. He said, “Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field” (verse 38).
Recruitment begins with Asking Prayer. Ask the Lord of the harvest to send the right leaders to join your "harvest team." Pray for these leaders by ministry position in your private daily prayers. Circulate a prayer request to your prayer partners, asking them to pray for God to fill these ministry positions with just the right leaders. After all, your harvest field is a part of God’s great harvest field throughout the world.
Lord of the Harvest, Please provide the workers we need to reap the great and precious harvest we see before us now. Amen.
