- A vibrant small-group ministry that includes hundreds of active participants, where members gather in each others' homes weekly to build each other up, challenge each other, and listen to the Lord on each others' behalf.
- Holistic training and support for the volunteer leaders, to the point where it is normal for these leaders to believe that their relationship with Jesus and the church is better because of volunteer work in the church.
- Almost 600 people receiving the message of this church on a weekly basis, being encouraged by the stories and experiences of others in the church while also being challenged to more deeply engage in their own faith.
What would you guess the annual operating budget of that church is? One million dollars? Two-million? More?
Try $90,000. Welcome to the LK10 community.
Try $90,000. Welcome to the LK10 community.
Since
it's inception almost 10 years ago, the LK10 Community has experienced
steady growth. With new doors opening all the time, we recently found
it necessary to hire three people part time in order to capitalize on
these opportunities. In this video, John White (Team Leader) and Jim Mellon (CFO), explain these exciting developments. (See below the video for more details.)
As the result of a generous grant, we have been able to hire three members of the LK10 community part-time to help the organization grow in more intensive ways:
1. Kent Smith is wearing several hats for the organization. First, curriculum. Kent is helping with the research and development team as they begin the revamp of Leader 101, while working with Laura and Rosten Callarman to rebuild Church 101 for college freshman/sophomore, and is in the beginning stages of developing what he calls "Life Together 101." Second, broader partnerships. Kent has started liaising between LK10 and several larger organizations that are interested in partnering with LK10, which has the potential to bring the LK10 practices to an exponentially increasing number of people who are connected to these groups. This includes taking a variety of denominational/organizational leaders and missionaries (in places like Chicago, Philadelphia, Hawaii, and more) through the LK10 materials.
2. Hilary Klein, Church 101 Coordinator. Interest in Church 101 is exploding. Just since the first of the year, more than 50 people or groups have signed up on the LK10 website for the Course. Hilary has played a key role in sending out the Lessons, answering questions, and praying for these new folks that are diving in to the LK10 way of life.
3. Rosten Callarman, Communications Coordinator. The articles and videos in our newsletter tell the story of the LK10 community. In a community that is so focused on experimentation and following God's lead, exciting stories are always popping up, and our hope is that these stories will inspire more joyful experimentation. Our newsletter currently reaches almost 600 subscribers, and the Facebook group is up to almost 100 members.
So, we need your help! The grant we received will pay part time salaries for these people through the summer. But, by the end of the summer we need monthly commitments of $2000. Would you consider a monthly commitment of $50 or $100 or more to keep these vital ministries going? Obviously, any amount helps, so if you don't have $50, $25 per month is great. If you don't have $25, $10 helps. We aren't asking you to be richer than you are or to give money that you don't have...we're asking you to ask God what God wants you to give, and then to follow God's desires.
Regardless of how much you're able to offer, keep in mind how small our operating budget is (see 3:20 in the video). When you donate to LK10, your money is going directly into building the capacity of the organization to reach more people and support a broader network. If you are feeling led to make a monthly or one-time donation, see the instructions in the right margin for details on how to contribute. Thank you!
P.S. As a bonus, check out from 4:00 to 4:10 on the video for one of the best/worst puns I've heard in a long time.
