What is your commitment to seeing that everyone has a chance to know Christ?
God is Not Willing That Any Should Perish -- Are You?
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. ~ II Peter 3:9READING: II Peter 3
Church planting is founded upon, its reason for being, and its overriding purpose is to see people repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. In II Peter 3:9, Peter reminds us that God’s heart is that none should perish. We should make it our goal to motivate and train another vital group of evangelists within our church to reach the masses and individuals that have yet to make a commitment to Christ.
When we were first called to plant churches in the Amazon River region, I made a trip to the area to evaluate the situation and hear God’s heart. I was astounded that after many decades of the church being nearby in Iquitos, the outlying communities were mostly still unreached with the gospel. As we made evangelistic trips to reach a few villages it became urgent to me to get to as many of the villages as possible to tell them about Jesus.
With help from evangelistic groups that come in the summer months we began evangelizing in the villages, offering evangelism meetings in the evenings and a new believer’s class and children’s ministry the following mornings.
God put a strategy on our hearts to come back every three months to train spiritual leaders for each village. As a result, there have now been, by the grace of God, over fifty churches planted with leadership from their own villages.
God is not willing that any should perish. What is your commitment to seeing that everyone has a chance to know Christ?
Lord, Please give me your heart for the lost, your passion to see the unreached come to know you, and show me the way. Amen.
