Want to see a church planting movement in your city/country?

Want to see a church planting movement in your city/country?
December 14, 2016

Jesus told us how.

And, it's not that difficult.  The main requirement is persistence.  Learning to pray like the widow lady in Luke 18.

It all begins with relentlessly praying the prayer Jesus commanded (not optional!) His disciples in Luke 10:2.  We call it The 10:2b Prayer. This was Jesus' strategy for the expansion of His Kingdom throughout the whole world.  (Of course, there's more to it than this one prayer but this is the starting place.)

Kent Larson (LK10 Coordinator in S. California) has created the prayer card below to help.  Cut this out.  Put it in your bible or on your mirror or in your car. Make 5 (or 50) copies to give to friends. Teach them about this prayer.  After all, this was one of Jesus' commands (not optional!).  Therefore, it's part of making disciples.  ("Teach them to obey everything I have commanded you."  Mt. 28:20.

What do you think would happen if everyone in your church, your group of friends, your city was praying this prayer (preferably with at least one other person) daily?

As my friend Kenny Moore said 15 years ago, "Before there can be a church planting movement, there must be a prayer movement."

Want to know what we've learned by praying this prayer daily for the last 15 years? Go here for five articles on The 10:2b Prayer.

And, send this email on to the friends you know who would be interested in seeing a church planting movement.

Kids are waiting to drink clean water

Hi Church,
"My child had sores on his arms and he was always sickly with intestinal disease. Since receiving our water filter, he has become well for the first time. This has changed our lives!"
WaterFilter
500 more families urgently need your help!

100% of your gift will directly fund water filters.

Give-Today-Button

Now is a critical time
Your gift of one water filter for a rural community will provide:
  • Clean water for many families saving lives and healing sick children
  • Entry into a community resulting in families reached, baptized, and new churches planted
The World Health Organization estimates that 50% of malnutrition is associated with diarrheal disease and intestinal worms. These diseases are caused by unsafe drinking water, lack of basic hygiene knowledge and practice, and inadequate sanitation.

These water filters not only save lives, but they have been proven to open doors into communities where the Gospel can be planted and churches birthed. Hundreds of churches have now been planted through the church planting movement in Rwanda and Burundi. By providing more water filters, this movement will continue to reach many people who are trapped in spiritual and material poverty.
Now is a critical time
Together we can provide water filters for 500 more families and see new churches planted in many villages as a result!
Give hope and health with us today!

Much Love,
Roger & Brooks

The Heart of Multiplication

Less than 4% of US churches ever reproduce, while over 96% are consumed in the lust of addition growth. That statistic burdens me and the entire Exponential team. The church and the people of God are made to “be fruitful and multiply.” So why is our fruitfulness lacking multiplication as an outcome?
A few weeks ago, I spent several days dreaming about moving the needle on multiplication with two different groups of national influence leaders. These leaders come from diverse backgrounds, are passionate about church multiplication, and are absolutely united on ONE thing. Healthy Biblical disciple-making is the key to multiplication. Multiplication is not something we do. Instead, multiplication is the overflow and fruit of disciple-making Jesus’ way.
Ralph Moore, pastor of one of the only Level 5 multiplying churches we’ve found in the US says, “Multiplication is 90+% the fruit of disciple-making.” Multiplication occurs when we see disciples making disciples who make disciples. It is the strategy of Jesus that’s embedded in the operating system of Christianity.
If we are not seeing churches multiply, we need to do a gut check on the quality of our disciple making. Is our prevailing operating system producing armies of Biblical disciples? Could it be that our prevailing addition growth strategies are programmatically and consumeristically adding disciples rather than adding disciples Jesus’ way? Could it be that we are optimized on producing cultural Christians? Could it be that the quality of disciples we are getting (and making) is at the core of our lack of fruitfulness in multiplication?
Sometimes we get so caught up in gathering a larger and larger attendance that we lose focus. Multiplication requires us to be as intentional in making disciples as we are in making converts. The 4% statistic is simply a measure of the health of our disciple-making.
Exponential is committed to helping your church multiply its Kingdom impact through discipleship by providing a variety of FREE resources. The newest Exponential eBook Dream Big, Plan Smart: Finding Your Pathway to Multiplication will be released in a few weeks and highlights the vital importance of healthy disciple-making as our core. Relationships Make Us Rich

Relationships Make Us Rich

As many of you know already a funny thing happened on my way to Wisconsin and Michigan in November. I never boarded the plane. I found out the Tuesday before I was supposed to fly I met with a surgeon who told me I was having open-heart surgery in two days!  Imagine the shock!  I've had a heart murmur since I was born and though I knew my doctors has been watching it more closely as I got into my 60s I didn't have any symptoms that indicated I was a candidate for surgery yet.  All that changed one Saturday afternoon kicking a soccer ball with my granddaughter and before I knew it I was being hustled into surgery to replace that valve. Afterwards my surgeon informed me that the valve was worth than they thought and could have failed at any time.

So this Christmas I find myself incredibly grateful for my ever-vigilant doctors, playing soccer one Saturday afternoon with my granddaughter, and hundreds of you who have prayed for us during this season or sent cards, FB messages, or email greetings to help us through this season. I'm now almost 5 weeks from surgery and my recovery couldn't be going any better.  My doctors are pleased as am I at my progress in recovery, all that aided by the fact that they only had to do a partial incision in my rib cage and also that I didn't need any bypasses, which for the way I eat was an absolute shock!

Everywhere I've traveled over the past 25 years, and whenever I have connect with someone who has traveled here, I feel as if a piece of my heart gets spread out in the world. The last few weeks have demonstrated just how powerful that is. I literally have friends all over the world that I feel deeply connected to. People wonder how I can keep up with all of those friendships, and I don't even try. I trust God in the ebb and flow of life to connect and re-connect us a my need, their need, or his purposes warrant. I haven't withheld my heart thinking I'll never see that person again but have felt the freedom to embrace each moment and the people who are near me, whether it's here at home, a weekend in some far-ff locale, or even two hours next to me in an airplane seat.

Relationships make us rich in all the things that matter.
As I write this I am acutely aware of those reading it for whom relationships has always been a painful reality. You've never known love, compassion, and faithfulness from another human being. Instead you have been neglected, betrayed, and isolated. My heart goes out to you. You regret holidays like Christmas the remind you how alone you feel and you've been through challenging circumstances without anyone taking an interest or offering you a hand. But I write this for you, too.

We were created to be connected with God and others, and Sara and I are praying that at this Christmas season you see how much priority God put on it to send his Son into this world to engage you, so that you could engage him. And in that growing freedom, that you might find yourself walking alongside others with greater grace and freedom than we've ever known before. It's a worthy journey for any of us.

One of the great fruits of this journey is watching people who become freer in God's love, freer in human relationships as well. They can risk vulnerability because their worth isn't defined by how others view them, the have no expectations because they find their provision in God, and they are more generous with their time and resources to serve those who may not have the capacity to serve them back. If you find yourself bereft of friendships, ask God who he has put around you that he wants you to love, and make time to be with them.

And it wasn't one I was expecting in my own life. I used to be a Type-A, task-based, achievement-focused person. People only got in the way of whatever I was trying to accomplish. I did not expect the people in my life to become the most endearing and valuable part of it. But they have and the depth of friendship I drink from every day blesses me more than anything I've been a part of. This was never a goal I set out to achieve, but a transformation that Father's love shifted in my own heart.

I pray he does that for you, too. That he leads you to people who have the capacity o share love and life with you and that he keeps knitting the world together through relationships that express the Father's creativity in our world.

With love and prayers this Christmas season,

We'll rent the whole theater and have some time to discuss it when it's done. You can view the trailer here and sign up for our Thousand Oaks showing here.  Tickets will be limited.  We will make tickets available on a first come/first served basis. Right now we're trying to get a sense of how large a theater to rent.
If you would still like to go to Israel with us, it isn't too late.  We just found had two new people sign-up to go to Israel with us. I thought it was too late, but it turns out our reservations still allow us to sign up nine more people who might be able to joino with Brad and I to Israel at the last minute. How to invest in LK10

How to invest in LK10
December 16, 2016

Dear LK10 Friends,

As we come to the end of 2016, would you permit me to make a personal request.  Would you consider these two questions...
1.  Have you benefitted from the ministry of LK10 in the last year?  (Church 101, LK10 Newsletters, coaching, hangouts, etc.)

2.  Do you desire to see a spiritual awakening in the US (or your country)?  (This is exactly our objective!  One million vibrant families of Jesus.)

If your answer to those questions is "Yes!", would you ask the Lord about making a one-time, end-of-the year investment in LK10?  See what amount He puts on your heart.  (LK10 is a very lean organization but we do need funds to do what we are doing.)

Two ways to invest...

1.  Go here to make a one time contribution through PayPal or with a credit card.

2.  Make a check out to "LK10" and send it to me (John White) at 1723 S. Poplar Way, Denver, CO  80224.

Thanks so much for your help!

John

PS.  All contributions are tax deductible.

John Fenn, Christ before conception in Mary #3

Hi all,
Suddenly I was in the Spirit, standing in heaven as a spectator to something I had no clue about. I was standing among a very large number of angels and no one noticed me for their attention was focused in the distance, to our right, where I could see the Father's throne. I noticed there was a path through the angels from the throne wide enough for 1 person to walk, with angels packed in on both sides, looking with such eagerness and those closest to the path were kneeling either on both or at least one knee.

I had been in my living room with the Lord, and my angel was also present, in the Spirit, but He was finished teaching me and told me as He left that I could ask my angel a question. So it was just the angel and me suddenly, and the thing on my heart was "How do you feel about me being in charge of you in the ages to come?"

His response was with an almost horrified look on his face: "Oh! It is right! It is proper!" And when I asked why, he responded, "Remember; We know Him as Creator, but you know Him as Savior!" That's when without warning, I was in heaven...I somehow knew it was at a time long ago but all was silent, and the atmosphere was very solemn and holy, so I dared not speak.

Suddenly out of the pure light of the Father stepped the Son, walking without looking back, down the path between the angels, each one bowing their head and often shoulders bowed in homage as He passed, walking silently on, out of view to my left. It was the moment He emptied Himself to become conceived in Mary.

What remains with me to this day is the solemn atmosphere in heaven when He left, and how I realized the angels didn't fully understand what was happening before their eyes - they had nothing to compare that with. Suddenly I was back in my living room with my angel's words still ringing in my heart: "Remember, we know Him as Creator, but you know Him as Savior!"

For the first time since the beginning...
James 1:13 says that God the Father doesn't tempt/test/try anyone with evil because He cannot be tempted/tested/tried with evil. The reason is very simple - the Father God doesn't have a physical body with which to be tempted. He has never known what it is to be tired, to be hungry, to have sore muscles, to be rushed by a schedule - the Father can't relate!

But Jesus - Christ became the man Jesus, and for the first time the Creator could experientially relate to His creation. As Philippians 2:8-11 says, He 'found Himself fashioned as a man.'

For the first time ever Christ who had appeared as the Word of the Lord to men and women down through the centuries, popping in and out of our world at will but never with a permanent body, is now confined to one place in one time, with all the limitations thereof.

In the womb He was still the Son of God, for Luke 1:41 tells us that when Elizabeth was six months pregnant and the just pregnant Mary visits her, the future John the Baptist leapt in Elizabethe's womb at the presence of the Lord in Mary and her voice. As a baby He was still the Son of God for Luke chapter 2 regales us with stories of angels, shepherds, an old man and woman worshipping.

By age 12 He asked His parents, "Didn't you know I would be about the Father's business?" Luke 2:49

We must understand this: You and I have to renew our minds to the things of God. Young Jesus merely had to fill His (human) mind.

For the first time He was personally limited to one place at one time, to know what it is to be tired, hungry, to control his bladder, to live among people rather than darting in and out of their lives supernaturally.

Hebrews 5:7 speaking of His anguish before the cross says "...He was heard in that He feared", and v8 tells us "He learned obedience through the things He suffered." He had to learn obedience for He was before, King of all! This was all new to Him.

What a humbling experience
We can only imagine life 2000 years ago - the closest most of us get today is perhaps camping. Using the bathroom outdoors or in a latrine, cooking over an open fire, grinding grain by hand with a rock, killing an animal, skinning it, and sorting organs and offal from meat. But that was Jesus' life - to go from Son of God used by the Father to create the universe, to THAT!

As I said, He had to first be humble in heaven, to be lowly in heart and meek, in order to be willing to come to earth to start with.

And then, as Philippians 2: 8 says, "...became obedient all the way to death, even the death of the cross..." Even the death of the most tortuous death the Roman Empire could devise - not just death, but tortured death, and not for Himself, but for mankind. Wow.

Back to Bethlehem - the message of the angels
"Glory to God in the highness; and on earth, peace, good will toward men" is the message from the angels. This has been watered down and misunderstood by advertising agencies and pastors, by children's Christmas programs and moms and dads everywhere.

We start to understand the intent when we look at who made the statement. "There was suddenly with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, saying: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace, good will towards men."

Heavenly host means 'heavenly army'
We have this image of harmless, maybe cherubic 'greeting card' looking angelic helpers gathered around Bethlehem, supporting the messenger angel charged with the task of letting shepherds know the Shepherd-King has been born. 'Host' means army - that means this announcement is coming from the Father's army in heaven with a message for mankind. Peace on earth and good will towards men.

Put yourself in their shoes. Take it to our time and you are camping in a field. You're sitting around the fire talking about the day, when suddenly an army messenger comes to you, and he is illuminated by an apparent floodlight of such intensity the whole field and area is lit. He tells you not to be afraid for he has good news, but instead you are of course very, very afraid.

Before you can take in the depth of his words, your eyes adjust to see an army of an innumerable number is standing just opposite you. These soldiers are highly equipped, and you know just one of them could wipe you all out. You are at their mercy.

Then they say, 'God says and we are His army; Peace on earth, good will towards men'. What relief! They have nothing but good will towards you, towards us! Able to destroy us, instead the Father God sends His army with a peace treaty! The proof, the down payment on the treaty is in the form of a baby, lying in a food trough for animals, wrapping in soft material used for underwear...

Paul would later write, "That is to say, God the Father was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not charging their sins to them, and has given to us the service of reconciliation." II Corinthians 5:19

The Lord Jesus is so humble, so approachable, but He is like that because as He said, "If you've seen me you've seen the Father". He is just like His Dad. And that is our life long journey called discipleship, being conformed into the image of His dear Son. It is a process, learn to enjoy the process and walk with the Father, include Him in your life by complimenting and giving thanks for little things - a pretty cloud, a well-timed 'coincidence', favor received over the course of a day - include the Father and the Lord conversationally, being amazed at the humility of Almighty God.

Amazing Grace! New subject next week, blessings,

New CD/MP3 Series

Decision Making When You Both Want to be in Charge

Learning how to argue successfully is a skill that will help you find peace and the Lord’s will no matter the decision you face, while keeping your relationships intact. This series teaches point by point the ‘rules’ of arguing based on scripture and life experience that will get you through the storms of life – together. For marriages, friendships, working relationships and neighbors, learning the points in this series will help you understand the other point of view while getting yours across in a way that builds strength into the relationship. I wish someone had taught these things to Barb and I when we were teenagers – we had to learn them through the school of hard knocks – and now they are shared with you.

Just a word about our On-line Video Bible School - these classes, so far; Old Testament I & II, Righteousness and Our Authority in Christ - are a go-at-your-own-pace, no test, investment in your own faith and understanding of the Word and Lord. Once registered, your password is good for a whole year so you can take your time, but as I'm hearing from students, once they start they have a hard time stopping! Each class is about 45-55 minutes long, so they are in easy to receive segments...consider investing in a deeper study of the things of God!

CWOWI E-Newsletter, 12/19/2016, Personal Health Update, Prophetic, Kingdom Culture

Hi all,

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Barb had her gallbladder out December 1st and while in there they found gall stone blockage further 'downstream', which required a transfer to the main hospital and another procedure the next day. But she is up and around now and doing well. She has a few more tests in January for some other things, and I have my Afib/cardio consultation January 9 followed within the month by the ablation procedure on my quivering nerve in my upper left heart, but everything in its time.
It has been rather weird for us to be so focused on ourselves the past few months, no long trips, limited Skype and phone calls, limited involvement with our Tulsa core - but needful for health’s sake, not only ours, but some issues with Chris and his health, and the group home. We look forward to the turn of the year and getting more active along with the many trips on the calendar.
Remember this? Many will recall how the Father told me earlier this year "2017 will be a difficult time for the world" and other things related to the time after the current US President leaves office. Last month you'll recall the vision I shared of the 2 layers of clouds, separate, each layer representing the efforts and focus each has.

If you think that through, it becomes clear the lower cloud level which the Father tied to the soon to be former President's efforts to change everything from voting district boundaries to culture in the big cities and streets, and the upper level being the new President's administration - it becomes clear there will continue to be 2 streams in the US, the 'discussion' about the level of involvement the federal government should have in the lives of its citizens, and to what degree the federal government adheres to the US Constitution. It is a matter of prayer, but the 2 streams that will continue are clearly seen in that vision I've shared about.

You'll also remember that I was flying in between the cloud layers, not touching either. I took it to mean I was representing the larger body of Christ in doing so, showing me there will be a time of protection flying between the layers as we weren't the focus of either layer, and I take comfort in that. He (Father) told me at the time of the top layer; "They will be focused on things which will require their full attention" and of the lower layer, "They are looking down, not up, and will try to affect you (Christians) indirectly - but they will not now succeed." That left me wondering...not now...

One of the things the Lord told me recently  The words He used carry meaning and spiritual baggage for many, so I need to establish the context because what some might think He was talking about isn't at all what He was saying. Just this past week He told me (the Lord, not the Father) we will see the rise of people talking about 'kingdom culture', but His part of it is in a balanced way, though many would veer out of balance with it.

He then started to explain what it was not, saying I would hear of little sects and ministries here and there, and larger groups claiming to be kingdom culture, but they are off balance. It is rare for Him to make blanket statements, so I asked for more detail. He said, "It is their movement, not something I'm doing on a larger scale, but still, I will do what I can within many of them according to the knowledge they have. If they have to advertise as their main point that they are kingdom culture, they aren't. Kingdom culture is who you are, in your spirit, and in your relationships, ever growing and maturing in Me."

To Him, kingdom culture involves the core elements we see from the Garden of Eden through the New Testament - family and relationship based faith that is focused on living godly and holy lives. When I asked for chapter and verse He said: "Sure. II Timothy 1:9."The Father has saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our efforts, but according to His purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before times eternal."

He continued: "The Father has saved you and called you with a holy calling. Many who believe have turned aside from this, being self deceived, thinking they can live however they wish, their lusts finding justification they think, in Me." (He was clearly angry at this, His emotion and appearance in His face proving it to the point I was a bit nervous as He spoke, for it reminded me of His instructions and warnings to the 7 churches in The Revelation chapters 2 & 3.)

"Kingdom culture in your world includes all that I hold dear - the fruit of the Spirit, the strong and godly character found in my true disciples - THAT is what I am doing, though many will touch only elements and certain aspects and run with it, saying 'We are kingdom culture!' From such turn away, for again I say to you, if they have to announce it in a way to let all know that is their main emphasis, they are not living it, but only have part of it right. Balance son, always balance."

Those were some pretty cautionary words and there were more things as well; He talked about how things we call moves of God come and go with the seasons, but He said 2017 will see more unity in the body of Christ where it counts. He told me of some notable people who would die in the coming weeks and months and said to observe the reactions of people. He said His timing is such that as leaders from a past generation die the level of dependence people had on them is revealed, forcing His people to either fall away or focus on Him within. That was one of the most significant points of this visitation - not just Him growing His kingdom within true disciples (and the difference becoming more apparent between true disciples and those who are believers in name only, but His perspective that as leaders die it forces believers to turn inward to Him and them, not Him and that leader's body of work and them. I'll share more at a later time, but for me, I like to digest the visitations I have with Him, and let His words echo around my being awhile...I think you know how that is, like savoring a great taste or aroma.

Jesus is comfortable in any culture, because He is a culture within Himself - and we can be like that too If you look at the Lord Jesus you see He was comfortable in whatever culture He found Himself. When He was casting Legion out of the Greek man in the 10 Greek cities called ‘Decapolis’* He was just as at ease as He was in Jerusalem. (*Mk 5:20) When He was talking to the Roman Centurion in Matthew 8 He was just as comfortable talking to the Pharisees. Jesus was comfortable in whatever culture and surrounding He was, because He was secure in Himself.

When Christ is in us we can also be comfortable in whatever culture we find ourselves –from the home of an unbeliever to an auditorium church to someone’s living room – if we focus on Christ in us and His ease.

That the Lord Jesus was willing to come to earth, let alone be born in a stable, shows us He is comfortable in any culture – from a stable in Bethlehem to our own hearts.

Translators needed! We are still looking for people to translate my Weekly Thoughts and e-newsletters into Finnish, German, and other languages - even if you aren't able to do it on a weekly basis, consider 2x per month on the Weekly Thoughts - thank you! Contact Wil and Ank at cwowi@solcon.nl for information.

Wil and Ank - they had an accident that totaled their car as it was an older model so it didn't take much to render it un-fixable! lol. But...their desire is to buy a good used car outright to replace it and we are asking for help in that. Barb and I have contributed as well as CWOWI, and are opening it to others who want to help. They travel all over the Netherlands in the work of the Lord, as well as use it for work and such, so the need is genuine and urgent. If you would like you can contribute through the EU web site or our US site, cwowi.org, or if in the US you can also mail a contribution - just mark 'for Wil' and we'll make sure it gets to them.

May we continue to grow in Jesus’ culture however, focusing not so much on what He can do for us, but how we might be conformed to His image and His ‘culture’. Kingdom culture. Thank you for your giving and prayers.

Blessings and much love!
    John & Barb
