Forgiven
Terri Roberts has released a new book entitled Forgiven. It’s the story about God’s remarkable grace amid a tragedy, and His enablement to release and forgive.
I caught up with Terri to talk to her about her new book.
Enjoy!
Why did you write Forgiven?
Terri
Roberts: I have experienced hope and joy through remarkable
forgiveness within my community. It’s a real-life story of God’s grace
that the world needs to hear.
Tell us a bit about the experiences that shaped the insights in the book.
Terri
Roberts: Our son was responsible for the worst crime I had ever heard
of, and it tore apart the lives of many in our community. Instead of
bitterness and rejection, I experienced love and compassion from those
who were wounded by his actions. Because of the way they embraced me, I
was able to move forward to face another day. Now I am thriving in the
community beyond what I could have ever imagined.
Give us two or three insights from the book that would be helpful to Christians.
Terri
Roberts: Choosing to forgive keeps us from becoming bitter. We don’t
need to live in our sorrow 24/7. We can recognize it as a part of our
history while asking God to create new tomorrows to soften our pain. The
peace that passes understanding is possible—it means facing the hard
places with gratitude within our circumstances, not avoiding them.
What do you hope readers will walk away with after they finish your book?
Terri Roberts: A new confidence in moving into one tomorrow after another.
What has the response to the book been so far?
Terri
Roberts: Readers have been incredibly thankful to discover nuggets that
they’d never considered before. They’ve shared emotional stories of how
they’ve released bitterness.
What else do you wish to say about it?
Terri
Roberts: The circumstances of our lives are so varied. My life story
has inspired many, and I would love to hear readers tell me how it has
touched their lives as they join me in this journey.
