LK10 A COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE FOR CHURCH PLANTERS
Friends,
I wanted to invite you, as a former DAWN Associate, to come and take a look at LK10: A Community of Practice for Church Planters. http://lk10.com/
Ben Cheek, Kent Smith, Tim Pynes and I have been working on this site/community for about four months and we are now ready to “go public”. (Having said that, I should mention that quite a lot of people have already found the site and joined so we already have 80 members from seven different countries.) The purpose of LK10 is to create an environment where simple church planters from around the world can connect with each other.
Here are two terms that will help you understand what we are after.
Community of Practice. LK10 is built around seven foundational practices of simple church planters. In this community, everyone is both a teacher and a learner. (There are no experts here... everyone is an expert... everyone has a voice!) "We humans learn best when in relationship with others who share a common practice... This community becomes a rich marketplace where knowledge and experience are shared. It also becomes an incubator where new knowledge, skills, and competencies develop." -Margaret Wheatley.
Niche Social Network. LK10 uses a website as the starting place for the development of a worldwide community of church planters. "The power of niche social sites isn't just in connecting people, it's in providing tools that allow people to do something better than they could before." -Joshua Porter
When you visit the LK10 site, please download and read The LK10 Invitation which is in the PDF file on the front page. That paper explains in greater detail who we are. If this is the kind of community you would like to be a part of, you can “Join the Community” on the lower left hand corner of the front page. We would love to have you!
Over the next few days I'll be sending out a couple more emails that will give you more of a feel for what LK10 is like. If you have any questions, please let me know.
